The tombstone has been made and erected by my father's grave. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those who made contributions.
My father was well known in the musical world for decades. He was arguably a legend as a great instrumentalist. I realized this more after he had left us. Today, Daniil Shafran is part of the history of the cello playing of the highest order.
A book about Daniil Shafran is being written. I believe it will be useful and desirable to the musical world. His role in cello music, his moral standard and his life will be discussed in the book.
The book is being written by two authors: Gennady Cypin and Michael Fikhtengolts who is the grandson of a noted Russian violinist. The book is almost completed. Meanwhile, I have made an agreement for the English translation of the book . I am also planning to bring back Daniil Shafran's concert recordings to the public. However, in order to accomplish these tasks in Russia and abroad needs money. The amount collected by The Daniil Shafran Memorial Fund is still insufficient.
Enough said. We need your help. Your contributions will help realize the dream of great many music lovers: Daniil Shafran's life and work will be remembered. Your donation to The Daniil Shafran Memorial Fund will be greatly appreciated!
